Elizabethtown, New Mexico. The first incorporated town in the state, born of a gold rush in 1866, abandoned by 1917. At its peak, 7,000 people lived here. Today, almost nothing remains.

Against weathered log walls, two wagon wheels lean as they were left, spokes still precise, geometry still perfect, wood still holding. Ce Qui Reste (What remains) was painted from the artist's own photograph taken during a personal visit to this ghost town in northern New Mexico. The palette is as spare as the subject: cream, ash, shadow, and the faint green of grass reclaiming the ground. A painting about time. About what survives and what doesn't. About the strange beauty of things that have outlasted their purpose.
