Laurence Gamelin founder of French and Beyond interior design studio Los Angeles artist and designer

Born in Brittany.
Transformed by California.

Where someone sees a room, Laurence sees a composition.
Where others choose furniture, she builds a palette.
Where some decorate, she tells a story.

Laurence Gamelin carries a world within her.

Born in France into a family of painters and photographers rooted in the heart of Brittany, she grew up between continents, shaped by the architectural grandeur of Europe, the immensity and wild beauty of America, the vivid colors and rhythms of Africa.

Each country she visited, each culture she absorbed, added another layer to the way she perceives color, light, proportion, atmosphere, and the quiet soul of a place.

In France, Laurence pursued medicine, dedicating years of her life to the care of others. Then, her professional journey brought her to the United States, where she found a new home and finally answered the creative calling she had carried all her life.

Art was not something she discovered, it was something she returned to. A legacy that had always been hers, waiting.

That same eye, trained by heritage, sharpened by decades of travel across continents and cultures, and alive with the memory of a thousand colors, is what she brings to every interior she designs.

Where someone sees a room, Laurence sees a composition. Where others choose furniture, she builds a palette. Where some decorate, she tells a story.

French & Beyond was born from the belief that a beautifully designed home, like a great piece of art, is never simply looked at, it is felt. Layered, considered, and unmistakably alive, every space Laurence creates carries something of the world she has lived, and makes it entirely yours.
